Images of coastal San Pedro and The
Corner Store have been published in a
new catalog from the H&M clothing
company, a Swedish “cheap-chic”
retailer.
The scenes appear in the
Scandinavian version of the company’
s Spring 2007 catalog.
Wildly popular for its affordable, trendy
styles, H&M has hundreds of stores in
Europe but opened in Los Angeles
only last year.
The company did a photo shoot in San
Pedro and other Southern California
beach cities last Labor Day weekend.
Shots taken at The Corner Store and
along Paseo del Mar made the cut.
“The San Pedro coast is so beautiful
and The Corner Store is the hub of the
neighborhood’s breezy, friendly
lifestyle,” said Peggy Lindquist, who co-
owns The Corner Store with her
husband, Bruce.
“It’s just awesome to see our store
and our coastline as the backdrop to

the former co-owner of The Corner
Store. McKenna was interviewing
Lindquist about The Corner Store for an
article in the Palisades Residents
Association newsletter.
“I was so thrilled to share such an
exciting moment with Peggy,” said
McKenna, who previously owned the
store with Marisa Giuffre.
“There we were, talking about the
store’s history and its great future in
Peggy’s hands. To have this really
trendy photo shoot going on was like
a manifestation of the new possibilities
we both imagined for the store. To
me, it just symbolized all that’s
promising and inspiring about The
Corner Store,” said McKenna.
